USVI Hotel & Tourism Association Elects Marc Langevin as
New Chairman of the Board
St. Thomas, VI, March 26, 2010—Marc Langevin, general manager of the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas, has been elected as the new Board Chairman for the USVI Hotel & Tourism Association. Langevin replaces Richard Doumeng who served as Chairman for more than 6 years.
Langevin is a hotel executive with more than 25 years of hospitality industry experience. He began his hospitality career in Recreation Management with Club Med in the 1980s in various resorts around the world, from Europe to Africa, and the Caribbean, followed by opening several hotels in Las Vegas as restaurant Manager, including Main Street Station Casino, The Flamingo Hilton, Treasure Island at the Mirage and Bellagio. He then joined The Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles as Assistant Food and Beverage Director, managing the famous Polo Lounge. Langevin first joined The Ritz-Carlton in 2001 as the E.A.M Food and Beverage Director at The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland and went on to serve as Resort Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Langevin was appointed General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas in 2006.
“I accepted the role as I felt a great support of the Board of Director team to move our association forward in achieving goals important to our members and our community” said Langevin. “Under the leadership of past Chairman Richard Doumeng, and President Lisa Hamilton, the association has strengthened and initiatives were implemented for our youth, employees, and members and I hope to build on them to make our association even more relevant and significant."
Since April 2008, Langevin has chaired the Association’s Education, Training Development and the Environmental Committee. Under his leadership, the committee has created numerous initiatives for the Boys & Girls Club on St. Thomas, actively promoted the hospitality industry to high schools, and is currently in discussion with the University of the Virgin Islands to develop and support a college-level training program. Efforts have also intensified to offer more training programs for employees.
A native Parisian, Langevin speaks fluent English, French and German. He resides on St. Thomas with his wife Pamela and their 8 year old daughter Lilly.
